Name Your Taste
If you cannot name your taste, the child will inherit the default. Name yours. It does not have to be perfect. It has to be specific.

The adult names their taste. Not 'I know what I like.' That is a preference. 'I prefer natural light, muted tones, and real textures because they feel honest.' That is taste, articulated. The adult generates one image with the default and one with their named aesthetic. Shows the child. Says: 'This is the default. This is mine. The difference is my taste.' The child who hears an adult name their taste learns that taste is a choice, not a feeling. The child who never hears it inherits the default.
Hard edges
- Do not perform taste as superiority. The point is the naming, not the hierarchy.
- If your taste is the same as the default, say so. That is also honest. The point is the awareness, not the rejection.
If they say
- “I don't have a specific taste.”
- You do. Pick two images you like. Why those? The answer is your taste. Name it. It does not have to be sophisticated. It has to be specific. 'I like warm colors because they feel cozy' is taste. 'I like good art' is not.
- “My taste is the same as the default.”
- Then say so. 'My taste is the default. I like the smooth, the golden, the centered.' That is honest. The awareness is the lesson. The child who hears you say 'my taste is the default' learns that taste can be named, even when it matches the machine. The naming is the skill. The default without naming is the atrophy.
Objective
The adult names their own aesthetic in one specific sentence, generates an image with the default and one with their aesthetic, and shows the child the difference.
The named taste
The child inherits the adult's relationship to taste. If the adult says 'I know what I like' and never names it, the child learns that taste is a private feeling. If the adult names it — 'I prefer this because it feels honest' — the child learns that taste is a public choice with a reason. The naming is the inheritance. It does not have to be perfect. It has to be specific. 'I like natural light' is specific. 'I like good pictures' is not. The child who hears the specific sentence will learn to name their own. The child who hears the vague one will inherit the default, because the default is the only specific taste in the room.
