The Math Hour
The math hour at the table is the whole program: counters or a line, a question worth waiting for, a number sentence they write. A parent who is not a mathematician can run that hour for five-to-ten — counting, the equal sign, equal groups, fractions on a line — if 1/2 + 1/3 = 2/5 is heard as a size mistake, not a cute slip.
