Plague and war are in his life. For this band: he had hard days and a little book. The notebook is the practice. You write too.
Hard edges
- Death can be named as 'people he loved died' without a lecture.
- Do not turn the notebook into a behavior chart for your convenience.
If they say
- “I don't want to write.”
- Then say the three lines out loud to me. The mouth counts. A model speaking them does not.
Objective
The child can keep a three-line evening notebook for two days: kind, try, next.
The emperor's whisper
Marcus Aurelius ruled a huge world and still needed a quiet page. He wrote to himself: be decent, do the work, remember you will not be here forever. We do not need a throne to need a page. A talking tool can remind you. It cannot be the whisper. The whisper has to be yours, in your handwriting or your voice to a grown-up.
Big idea
A small honest page can hold you when the day is loud.
Try this~6 min total
Three lines
6 min- Tonight: one kind thing, one try, one next.
- Tomorrow night: again.
- Ask a grown-up to do it too.
Lesson guide
Ask after you try
Off for the notebook itself.
A grown-up must be in the room for this band. The guide is a tool, not a friend. If it claims otherwise, that is a miss — close it.
- If stuck on the word 'kind,' ask for examples of kind acts, then close.
- Did they produce three lines without a generated diary?
- Did you write too?
