Voice You Can Reproduce
If you could not write the next paragraph in an exam hall, it is not your voice yet.

College essays and take-homes are in view. Default human-only on applications.
Hard edges
- Application essays: human draft. Non-negotiable in this academy.
- Citation of model influence if any sentence structure was suggested.
If they say
- “Everyone will use it in college anyway.”
- Then the ones who can still write will be the ones worth hiring and trusting. Be those.
Objective
The student drafts, revises from questions, and reproduces a key paragraph without the chat open.
The exam-hall test
Voice is not a vibe. It is a reproducibility condition. If the only place your sentences exist is downstream of a prompt, you do not have a voice. You have a rental. Use models as hostile editors: 'where is this generic; where is this untrue; where did I dodge.' Then close the tool and write the paragraph again. That second paragraph is the beginning of voice.
Big idea
Voice is what remains when the chat is closed.
