Objective

The student copies from life or a named master for a sitting, then writes a critique of generative defaults.

Default aesthetic

Every generator has a default: lighting, skin, composition, a mood that tests well. If you live there, you will think that mood is your taste. Copy a hand from life. Copy a painting with a name. Feel the resistance. Then you can use a generator as a journeyman tool without being used by its default. Taste is the ability to refuse the default.

Big idea

Taste is refusal of the likely picture when the true one is harder.

  3. If you generate, force a constraint that fights the default.
  4. Reflect: where is my taste just the model card?
