Speak With Them
A phrase at dinner from your imperfect mouth beats an app they use alone.

Parent briefing · 5 minutes, before they sit
You are allowed to be worse than they are. That is the gift. Do not hide behind 'the app is better.'
Hard edges
- Don't take over their homework in a language you don't have.
- Heritage speakers: don't police their home register with a model's 'correctness.'
If they say
- “I'll embarrass them.”
- Perfection embarrasses them into silence. Effort gives them cover.
Objective
The adult learns and uses one phrase with the child this week, badly if needed.
The imperfect parent
Language survives in houses, not in perfect TTS. Say the phrase. Let them correct you. A model can drill later. It cannot replace the social fact that this family uses more than one tongue, or is trying to. Trying in public is the curriculum.
Big idea
A house that never speaks will not get a language from an app.

Ritual reminder
Adult profile is the workshop. Child profiles are separate. Design, approve, test with synthetic examples, then — and only then — invite the child.
Fresh profile only. Never clone an adult profile. No child names, photos, or school. Hint-first. User-started. The guide does not make AI safe. You may refuse it.
