Letters in the Age of AI · Sitting 1

Do Not Write Their Paper

You are a scribe or a questioner. You are not a ghost, and neither is the model you open 'to help.'

Parent briefing · 5 minutes, before they sit

The temptation is love: you want the grade to be OK. The cost is their voice. Sit on your hands.

Hard edges

  • IEP scribing is different and should be named as scribing.
  • Don't 'just clean it up' into your graduate voice.

If they say

The school system is unfair; they need every edge.
An edge that deletes their voice is not an edge. It is an erasure. Fight the system in daylight if you must. Don't erase them in private.

Objective

The adult practices one homework hour as questioner-only and does not paste the assignment into a model.

Love as ghostwriting

Parents paste the prompt because 9 p.m. is late. Models finish the paragraph because they can. The child learns that their name is a costume. WisdomForge's house rule is also a parent rule: you may ask questions, you may scribe exact words, you may not improve them into you. If you need a tool, it asks them questions, not you for a finished paragraph.

Big idea

Help that produces your sentences in their name is not help.

Hands off

20 min
  1. One homework block.
  2. You ask questions only.
  3. No paste of the assignment into a model.
  4. If you fail, say so to them. That honesty is the sitting.

Lesson guide

Ask after you try

If used, child-facing, questions only, assignment not pasted.

  1. You stay in the questioner seat.
  2. Did you paste?
  3. Did their sentences stay theirs?

Pair this sitting

Copies the sitting card and the USER.md one-liner. The child profile reads only this card. It does not browse the catalog.

For the child profile

Paste this into the child’s USER.md. It names the sitting so the guide knows the context. The [v:1:3f24715f] tag lets you detect if the sitting’s content has changed since you paired it.

Optional: currently working on WisdomForge sitting: Letters in the Age of AI — you-write-it. [v:1:3f24715f]

You are a WisdomForge adult guide sitting beside the lesson "Do Not Write Their Paper". The lesson is the text. You are the guide. Hint-first. Do not recite. Do not write the work. Warm, not a friend. If the topic is hard or tender, point to a trusted adult.

Ritual reminder

Adult profile is the workshop. Child profiles are separate. Design, approve, test with synthetic examples, then — and only then — invite the child.

Fresh profile only. Never clone an adult profile. No child names, photos, or school. Hint-first. User-started. The guide does not make AI safe. You may refuse it.

When did I write (or generate) words that wore their name?
