The Art Hour

The art hour at the table is the whole program: object before the name, child's mark on the child's page before polish. A parent who is not a studio artist can run that hour for five-to-ten — mug, leaf, fat crayon, two tempera puddles — if a generated image is not allowed to pass as the child's work.

Editorial principle

Look before name. Make before polish. Place by skill, not by birthday. The child holds the tool; the parent holds the key.
